Pain, and agony
Among the things I deserve
Play this symphony
By ripping out my spinal nerve
Sharpen your knives
And get your claws out
It fuels your anger
Without a doubt
Gouge my eyes out
Ready to face the reckoning
It’s the only route,
The only way to find meaning
And I see you from afar
With the power that lifts me up
Leading me to the North Star
I’ll be drinking from a golden cup
What’s the purpose of me being here?
It’s not what I need, is it right to disappear?
I don’t want no shimmer, let me feel this shiver
The one thing I crave, hear the speech I deliver
You want my last wish and desire?
I don’t deserve no fucking crown
I lived by the fire
And the fire must bring me down
(Let them tear my flesh)
To feel the pain I’ve inflicted
(Let them gnaw my bones)
A retribution for those I convicted
Everlasting days
Are only fit for the righteous
Don’t let me upraise
Or I would spread like a virus
(Please spare your sorrow)
For there is nothing to remember
(Slipping out of existence)
Like a dying ember
Vanishing from time and space
Forgotten in the blink of an eye
The only thing I embrace
Just let me die
A truly stellar death/doom album with heavy doses of black metal. Tracks like Isolation, Child of Light, and Broken Hymns deliver the sorrowful and icy tone of this album, elevated by the stirring cello compositions of Raphael Weinroth-Browne. The album delivers a deeply satisfying crescendo in Becoming Intangible before stirring the soul once again with Epilogue. Matt Richardson
